Schools in Penobscot, York counties to be reassessed before reopening

STATEWIDE — School is just around the corner. On Friday, the Maine Department of Education updated the color-coded health advisories for the state’s counties.

As of now, all 16 remain “green.”

Each county is being evaluated every two weeks.

Except next Friday, Penobscot and York will be reevaluated sooner, since both have had a recent uptick in COVID-19 cases.

According to the advisory there is a possibility they may be switched to yellow.

Green indicates a relatively low risk of transmission.

Yellow means schools should consider additional precautions.

Red indicates a high risk of COVID-19 transmission- advising schools do not go back to in person learning
