Unclaimed property may be yours
The office of the Maine State Treasurer has something that could make someones holiday a little brighter.
They are currently holding more than 304 million dollars worth of unclaimed property.
Unclaimed property consists of money and other financial assets that are considered lost or abandoned when an owner can not be located after a period of inactivity.
Other things such as un-cashed checks, life insurance policies, unpaid wages, refunds and safe deposit box contents are also un-claimed property.
The treasurer’s office holds them free of charge until an owner or heir can claim them.
To find out if you have unclaimed property go to maineunclaimedproperty.gov and look up you name.
