Bangor Rotary Club puts on community lighting contest

BANGOR — Community members are showcasing their holiday cheer with some impressive light displays.

The Bangor Rotary Club is hosting a community lighting contest throughout towns and cities in the Greater Bangor Area.

People are encouraged to view the light displays on homes and organizations, and then vote for their favorites.

The Rotary’s website has a map of the 30 participating locations across Bangor, Brewer, Hampden, Hermon, Glenburn, Veazie, Orono and Milford.

“You can grab a map and just go out and take a look,” says Jesse Moriarity with Bangor Rotary. “The contest goes on until Jan. 2nd. So plenty of time to get out there and take a look.”

Viewers can vote for their favorites on the Rotary website, or by posting a pic of their favorite display on Facebook and tagging ‘Rotary Club of Bangor, Maine.’

The location with the most votes will earn the people’s choice award along with a $500 cash prize.
