Darling’s donates to Camp CaPella
BREWER — Employees from Darling’s Auto Group made a special presentation to Camp CaPella Tuesday..
Camp CaPella provides a summer camp experience for people with disabilities and like many other organizations, they were not able to offer all of their programs this year due to COVID-19.
Darling’s held an auction on five NEXT canoes for their employees to bid on and on Tuesday, a check for nearly $2,300 was presented to the camp from the proceeds of that auction.
The camp’s executive director, Harvey Chesley, said the money will be used for some much-needed improvements.
“One is to upgrade our septic system. It’s over 35 years old and wasn’t designed for the use we’re currently using, so we’ll start that next week. And we’re also going to remodel our bathhouse,” he said.
Chesley said with the cancellation of many events, the camp depends on fundraising.
