Fire destroys Brownville home

BROWNVILLE – Fire swept through a home in Brownville Tuesday afternoon, killing pets and leaving the residents without a place to live.

Brownville Town Manager Kathy White told us firefighters from a handful of surrounding towns were called to 30 Spring Street Tuesday afternoon before 2:00 p.m.

White said the homeowner and two girls were home at the time, but were able to get out safely.

We’re told the home is a total loss and a couple of pets were killed.

The home was not insured, and White believes the victims are staying with family for the time being.

The fire marshal’s office is looking into what caused the fire, but White said it does not seem suspicious.
