Holden Police Department to try and appear on On-Patrol Live
HOLDEN — In the town of Holden, police chief Chris Greeley always comes up with unique ideas to help give back to the community, and this time he is taking it to the next level.
Holden Police Department going to national television.
“I just thought it would be fun to get maybe a shoutout from this police-focused tv show and raise money at the same time,” said Greeley.
The show Greeley is talking about is On-Patrol Live, a series that follows police officers and sheriffs across the country.
“We’re a very busy police department. Last month we dealt with 276 different things in one month. Last year 412 times we dealt with a criminal case where somebody was charged. That’s a high number for a town with a population of 3,200 people,” said Greeley.
On-Patrol Live highlights patrol units across the United States and Greeley suggests that Maine could be a destination worth visiting.
“Geographically, they’ve not been to this part of the country. We’re a very proactive. My officers are out there very diligently arresting people who are wanted and getting OUI’s and responding to crimes and charging people,” said Greeley.
However, Greeley says what separates other departments from his is how his officers protect and serve, and they really take the service to a different level.
“We also do public relations things a lot of police departments don’t do. 25 Days of Kindness. We raised over $26,000 this year and so far we’ve given away over $19,000 in cash. We do a good combination of police work and other creative sorts of things,” said Greeley.
A police department that is not only community-centric but fun to be around, Greeley has a message for the directors of On-Patrol Live.
“Come to Maine. Visit the Holden Police Department,” said Greeley.
