Police: 3-year-old Edgecomb girl’s death ruled a homicide
EDGECOMB — The Sunday death of a three-year-old Edgecomb girl has been ruled a homicide.
The girl was identified by police as Makinzlee Handrahan.
Police first responded to a 911 call just after 7:30 a.m. Christmas Day for a child not breathing at home on Route 1. The three-year-old girl was taken to Miles Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Monday and ruled her death a homicide, police said.
The cause of Handrahan’s death is under investigation by state’s major crimes unit, which is standard for all child deaths in the state.
Police are withholding the cause and manner of death as the investigation continues.
