Bangor firefighters make quick work of Seventh St. fire

BANGOR – Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that started under a refrigerator in the basement of a Bangor home.

According to Asst. Fire Chief Chandler Corriveau, the call came in around 8:00 p.m. for a building fire on Seventh Street.

Corriveau said the homeowners came home, their smoke detectors were going off and they could smell smoke.

He said authorities found a fire in the basement and called additional crews for help due to the building’s construction.

According to Corriveau, the fire was extinguished within minutes with minimal damage.

No injuries were reported.

He said the fire will be ruled accidental.
