BARN launches new recovery justice program
BANGOR — The Bangor Area Recovery Network, also known as BARN, launched its new Recovery Justice Program Tuesday.
The program will provide community-based recovery support to incarcerated individuals, those recently released from incarceration, and first-time offenders.
The goal is to help these individuals enter or continue recovery from substance use disorders.
BARN’s Recovery Justice Program coordinator Angela Walker says the program will collaborate with law enforcement agencies and correctional facilities to build and develop these new services.
“We will be resourcing out with local agencies in the area to make sure their whole well-being is taken care of,” Walker said.
The program is made possible by $273,000 dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funds, which were granted to BARN by the Penobscot County Commissioners.
