BREWER- A large donation was made earlier Sunday to the Brady Nickerson Foundation.

In 2019, the youth baseball community took a major loss when Brady Nickerson passed away after a battle with bone cancer.

Since that time, his family has used his memory to continue to push other kid’s passions forward in baseball with a foundation in his namesake

On Sunday, a former coach of Brady, Tim Bush, donated $1650 to the foundation.

“We’re just happy that his name gets to live on with the some of these amazing young men still in the facility, we just want to do our part to continue baseball, continue growth and continue to allow these athletes in the area and to let Brady’s name live on for everything he stood for, not only as a player but just as a human being, he’s one of the greatest kids I had the pleasure to coach,” Bush said.

Angel Nickerson, Brady’s mom, said the check with go toward matching a $5,000 donation that Nickerson/O‘Day submitted in July.

Immediately after the announcement of the donation however ,the Nickersons decided to pay it forward.

“We give out scholarships for players every year, every year we give out a scholarship for one player, this year we had a hard time deciding and decided to divide our scholarship up into two players,” Nickerson said.

Those two players had both played with Brady at Sluggers and said they were in shock to each receive the scholarships.

“Out of just us, we could make his life live on forever. So it was kind of more of just making sure that his life lives on,” Allen Wheaton said.
