Celebrate autumn with the Maine Maple Fall Fest Oct. 7-8
AUGUSTA – Members of the Maine Maple Producers Association will be hosting the fourth annual Maine Maple Fall Fest on Oct. 7-8. More than 25 sugarhouses across the state will welcome visitors for seasonal activities like pony rides, corn mazes, and apple picking as well as offer a wide variety of local maple products – from maple-coated peanuts, candies and maple creams to maple-sweetened treats of all sorts.
“Maine Maple Fall Fest has become a favorite in Maine – visitors come here from all around the world to experience our brilliant fall foliage and this event adds another level of delight for everyone this season,” said Lyle Merrifield, president of the MMPA. “If you missed Maine Maple Sunday in March, it is also a great time to stock up maple syrup for winter cooking and grab unique varieties like bourbon barrel aged or smoked maple syrup.”
Participating sugarhouses offer a variety of activities and products in the fall; check out the interactive map for participating sugarhouses and their hours and activities. While maple producers do not tap trees or boil sap in the fall, family-run farm stores offer a full selection of Maine maple goods.
The Maine Maple Producers Association (www.mainemapleproducers.com) is a membership-based nonprofit that represents the state’s growing maple industry. Maine is the third top producer of maple syrup in the United States. MMPA provides educational resources to help members produce the highest quality maple products and promotes Maine maple syrup and maple syrup products to a national and international customer base. It is the host of Maine Maple Sunday®, an event that attracts thousands of visitors annually to sugar houses throughout the state.
