Bring a project and settle in for some crafting and conversation. Coffee and tea provided!

The Night Tree: Annual “Welcome Winter” Celebration

Fields Pond Audubon Center, Holden 

4 pm 

Family oriented celebration of nature in winter, recreating the classic story of “The Night Tree.” Starting with a read aloud of the story, then with creating wildlife friendly ornaments to decorate your own night tree. Advance registration is recommended. Nonmember families are $12, member families are $10. 

Mexica Archaeoastronomy: Between Space and Time 

Versant Power Astronomy Center, Orono

7 pm 

Immersive planetarium scenarios illustrating the important role played by astronomical observation for the evolution of pre-Hispanic cultures in central Mexico. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for Umaine students, Veterans, and Seniors. $5 for kids under 12. 

Riff Johnson’s 12 Gigs of Riffmas 

PennyLane Bar and Grille, Brewer

6 pm – 9 pm 

Come help support The Twelve Gigs of Riffmas and help some Maine families in need while also listening to live music. 

A Charlie Brown Christmas presented by Heather Pierson Jazz Trio 

Bangor Arts Exchange 

7 pm – 9 pm 

The music of A Charlie Brown Christmas, performed live. Doors at 6:30 pm, music at 7. Tickets are $21. 

A Musical Christmas Carol 

The Grand, Ellsworth 

7 pm – 9 pm 

On the Stanley Subaru Stage. An adaptation of Dickens “A Christmas Carol” with original songs. True to the classic story, with some twists. $22 for adults. 

SATURDAY, DEC. 17TH

SDHS Festival of Trees

Searsport District High School 

9 am 5 pm 

$1 for one ticket, $3 for five tickets, $5 for 10 tickets. Winners will be announced on December 18th. 

Seed Sowing Workshop at Fields Pond

Fields Pond Audubon Center, Holden 

9 am – 12 pm 

Hands on workshop introducing native seed propagation for growing your own wildflowers. Participants will leave with several pots sown with seeds and ready for maintenance. No supplies needed to have at home. $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers. 

The Nutcracker

Collins Center for the Arts, Bangor 

2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm 

Bangor Area Youth Choir, Bangor Symphony Orchestra and Robinson Ballet put on the annual production. Tickets start at $10 for youth and $20 for adults. 

Christmas Carol Sing-Along with Hermon Baptist Choir 

Glenburn Evangelical Church

5 pm 

Join in to sing Christmas carol favorites. 

Launchpad presents A Fleetwood Mac Tribute 

Bangor Arts Exchange 

8 pm – 10 pm 

Multiple artists from all around the state to tribute Fleetwood Mac. General admission. Tickets are $20 the day of the show. All ages welcome.

Winter Wonderland Pop-up Picnic 

Robbins Hill, Solon

10 am – 6 pm 

A luxury picnic. Four guests per table. Each experience is one hour long. Book your slot now for a magical winter experience at the beautiful Robins Hill Scenic Overlook. 

Frozen Party 

Orono Trampoline Park 

12 pm – 2 pm 

Elsa, Ana and Olaf are back at OTP! Bring the family to meet your favorite Frozen characters. Admission is $10 for one hour. This event always sells out, so advance buying is required. 

Santa at Mad Kat’s

Mad Kat and Company 

2 pm – 4 pm 

Santa is coming to Mad Kat’s kids karaoke from 2 pm to 4 pm.
