Hospital celebrates opening of new birthing center
ELLSWORTH — Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital celebrated the grand opening of its new birthing center Monday.
Hospital leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Dixon Family Birthing Center in Ellsworth.
Hospital president John Ronan says the new center is family-focused, featuring labor, delivery and recovery suites with plenty of space for a support person to stay overnight.
“Delivering a baby is one of the most important things a mom will do, or a family will do. Having a great space to do that and a private room and not having to move after delivering a baby was something important to us,” Ronan said.
The new birthing center will officially open Tuesday.
