Man allegedly tried to flee from Brewer police by swimming across Penobscot

Two men are facing charges following a drug bust along the Brewer waterfront.

A Brewer police officer reportedly spotted a suspected drug deal between three people on a security camera on Sunday morning.

When police approached the suspects, Tyler Thomas, 30, of Hermon allegedly threw a bag of drugs into the Penobscot River before jumping in himself and trying to swim away.

He was later taken on board a rescue boat.

Thomas and Bertrand Cote, 46, of Bangor have been charged with aggravated trafficking and possession of drugs.

The men also will be banned from the Brewer waterfront.
