Penobscot County indictments include accused killers
BANGOR — The Penobscot County grand jury has indicted two men accused of killing a Bangor man.
Cote Choneska, 40, of Veazie and 30-year old Joseph Johnson of Old Town were indicted for murder in the death of Berton Conley.
Firefighters found Conley’s body inside his Essex Street home in November of last year.
Choneska and Johnson were also indicted for arson.
A Bangor man charged with attempted murder after he allegedly barricaded himself inside a Millinocket home in March is facing new charges.
The grand jury indicted 45-year-old Jason Mulligan with theft by unauthorized taking and two counts of violation of conditions of release, which were set by a judge on previous charges brought
against Mulligan.
A man accused of stealing protective face masks from Bangor City Hall was indicted on two counts of theft by unauthorized taking.
Police said Jonathan McCue, 32, of Bangor allegedly stole 80 N95 respirators while he was working for a company hired by the city to clean the windows at city hall.
Joshua Smock, 41, of Charleston was also indicted.
Smock and another man were arrested in March after a homeowner arrived at his property in Carmel and saw two people run into the woods.
Penobscot county sheriff’s deputies eventually found them.
Smock was indicted for burglary.
