Skowhegan home damaged in fire

SKOWHEGAN — A local family is without a place to stay after their home caught fire Tuesday afternoon ..

Firefighter Matt Quinn said crews were called to a home on East River Road around 4:15 p.m.

Quinn said smoke could be seen coming from the mobile home and within five minutes firefighters had it under control.

The family got out safely but the home was damaged, he said.

Quinn said the Red Cross is assisting them with a place to stay.

Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office are looking into the cause.
