Two charged in Hancock county tool theft investigation
ELLSWORTH– Two people have been arrested in connection with what police are calling a large tool theft in Hancock County.
The Ellsworth Police Department has been investigating a theft from a worksite at the Mill Dam that happened around December 14 and a burglary at a home on the Bangor Road that occurred around December 10.
They say more than $16,300, worth of tools and equipment were stolen during the incidents.
Timothy Stanley, 29, of Bucksport is being charged with burglary, theft and violation of bail for the Bangor Road burglary.
He was also summonsed for theft for his alleged role in the Mill Dam theft.
Jacob Carney, 31, of Eastbrook is being charged with theft for his alleged role in the theft of tools from the Mill Dam worksite.
Police say nearly all of the stolen items have been recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
