BANGOR — The United States Department of Agriculture will grant over $500,000 in grant funding in support of small businesses.
Federal funds from the USDA will expand small businesses in rural Maine by providing business training, technical help, and loan assistance.
The Androscoggin Valley Council of Government will receive over $12,000, Sunrise County Economic Council will receive over $15,000 and Eastern Maine Development Corporation will receive over $500,000.
Existing business owners and those interested in starting a small business are encouraged to apply.
“We look to help people that need a little extra boost and with the pandemic a lot of businesses were stressed and business slowed down,” said Lee Umphrey President and CEO for Eastern Maine Development Corporation. “But things are coming back and we’re looking at ways to enhance their existing operations.”
