Waterville has a new art center
WATERVILLE– Waterville got to show off its brand new art center today.
Here is a preview of the new 18 million dollar Paul J. Schupf Art Center located on Main Street in Waterville.
This center will be a hub and destination for the visual and performing arts, art education, and film.
The 32,000 square foot building was developed in partnership with Colby College and Waterville creates and will be a place to showcase all of the artistic talents in the area.
“Really we are creating a new model for the ways in which an art museum can be a community and new ways for the art to be in community,” said Jacqueline Terrassa the Caroline Muzzy Director of Colby College Museum of Art.
“It’s unbelievable the last 7 years has been a period of transformation in Waterville, and it’s really coming down to this building as the capstone of just nearly 200 million dollars of total re-investment,” said Brian Clark, Vice President of Planning, Colby College.
You’ll be able to see a wide variety of different art mediums on display in a new modern building.
The official opening day is set for this Saturday.
