Weekly European market in Bangor offers unique items

BANGOR — A Bangor store and farmer’s market is offering unique items from across the ocean.

Ingrid’s German Gift Shop provides locals with a variety of European foods and gifts that are difficult to find anywhere else in Maine, and shoppers say the farmer’s market has become a staple for some in the Bangor community.

According to owner Rick Gilbert, the market is more than your average shopping experience.

“It gives you the chance to try different breads and ethnic foods, and it’s a social event. It’s different than going to your grocery store,” said Gilbert. “I think we’re gifted to be here.”

The European market offers authentic Italian olive oil, bakery items, Alaskan salmon, and Maine-made meats and cheeses.

The market runs every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., year-round.
