$10 million in funding heading to nursing facilities statewide

STATEWIDE- Nursing home facilities across the state are getting some assistance from the federal government.

In Tuesday’s CDC briefing, Maine Department Human Health and Services Commissioner Jeanne Lambrew announced the Maine DHHS is issuing new guidance to assist nursing facilities in testing their residents and staff for COVID-19.

“This testing capacity will be enhanced by the federal government’s release of more than $10 million dollars in funding and it’s distribution of point of care testing devices to Maine’s nursing homes,” Lambrew said.

In addition to the new point of care testing devices, Lambrew added the department is launching a new online tool to connect with job applicants to address staffing challenges in many nursing home facilities.
