Man killed in crash near Penobscot Narrows Bridge
PROSPECT — A Searsport man was killed early Tuesday in a motorcycle on the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened shortly after 2:00 a.m. on the Fort Knox Road in Prospect near the entrance to the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Patrol Sgt. Cody Laite said in a news release.
Laite said deputies determined that Kory Schmidt, 27, lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle overturned and slid across the pavement before coming to rest in the ditch.
Schmidt died at the scene as a result of the injuries he suffered in the crash, Laite said.
The crash remains under investigation and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is assisting.
